CESSNA CE 208 AMPHIBIAN CARAVAN

Reg. OE-EDM

Imagine flying across the Atlantic and back with a single-engine freight and passenger plane. That?s the kind of adventure many pilots revel in. And what they need is an extremely reliable plane, like the Cessna Caravan. Until August 2000, the Cessna Caravan was based in Florida (except for a trip to Austria in 1999). If only one had known that the plane was destined to return to Austria within a year to join the Flying Bulls, those trips across the ocean could have been saved.

After all, crossing the Atlantic is quite an adventure. In December 1982, the first prototype Cessna Caravan took off, and in October 1984 the FAA licence was granted. The PT6 turbines supply plenty of power, yet work surprisingly quietly. In 2008, the Cessna was fitted with a new turbine to increase the amphibian plane?s power by 75 HP and to increase torque during take of f fully loaded.

As a result, the Cessna Caravan takes to the skies with 675 HP. What?s more, she is renowned for her excellent flight qualities and is often used for commercial business flights. In the USA, the Cessna was registered as N666CS. In April 2001, she became the first plane to be granted the Austrian type certificate. A grand premier indeed!
