Blanix

The contrast is in the details:

It doesn?t have to be loud and fast to be convincing. Just imagine: two distinctive gliders, one of them flying upside down, the other one directly beneath it, at merely half a wingspan?s distance. Mirror flights are a very ambitious formation seldom performed by gliders. Blanix don?t have any engine to help them, no, they?re only powered by gravity. All available energy has to be used wisely ? and this requires high-class flying skills.

The performance:

Accompanied by mystic music, they draw a heart into the sky with smoke emerging from their wing tips before going into mirror flight. The distinctive outlines of their gliders give the mirror image a special touch, making the performance even more outstanding. After a fly by in this formation, they break up their mirror flight to slide into position behind each other. Next up there?s the more casual part of the show, featuring spectacular encounters at low altitudes and synchronous loops. Every flight ends on the ground ? still united in perfect synchronicity. On February 28th 2012 EASA approved with revision 1 to STC 10035295 an alternative limitation of 5000h without aerobatic use. No specific limitations with respect to double seated operation apply anymore. This makes the Blaník the ideal basic trainer airplane once again.
