? soared high at AIRPOWER09!
The sky over the Hinterstoisser air base in Zeltweg, Styria, was filled with thunder and lightning on 26th and 27th of June. It was not the bad weather, however, that caused all the excitement, but the take-offs and touch-downs of the breathtaking flying machines of the AIRPOWER09. More than 250,000 visitors watched the kings of the skies who had come from as many as 19 countries. The Flying Bulls lived up to their name and showed the other aircraft and helicopters just what is feasible beyond the outer limits of everyday air traffic. Visitors to the air show had the rare opportunity to marvel at nearly the entire fleet of Hangar-8. The proper air show sound was ensured by the heraldic beast of the Flying Bulls, the Corsair, and by our Harley of the Skies, the Stearman. The Cobra provided the underlying beat.
The experienced air show participants Alpha Jet, Mitchell B-25, Pilatus Porter and DC-6 did a great flying display.
The BO-105 with its air acrobatics, including looping, met with a burst of enthusiasm among the spectators who were also highly impressed by the supermodel among the exhibited aircraft, the Lockheed P-38 Lightning.
